Old Uncle Grampy

This is my grandfather. It's based on a photo taken when I visited my grandparents in England in 2006. I know straight realistic portraiture isn't usually my thing, but I thought it would be nice to work that way for this piece. This painting is currently part of a portrait challenge at Sleeping Giant Gallery. A number of different artists painted/photographed their grandfathers or uncles, and everyone who comes to the exhibit tonight gets to vote for the best piece. The winner gets a free 1 week solo exhibit.

The poster for the event is below. I put that together too!

You Know What Love Is Paintings

These are my paintings for the You Know What Love Is show over at Sleeping Giant Gallery. They're both 18x24. It opens tomorrow night (Friday the 12th!) and I hope all of you that live in Toronto can make it! The theme for these is distorted sexual daydreams! FUN!

Ghost Bees

This portrait was used for a mock show poster, but I took out all the information in favour of making it just a nice illustration. It's of the lovely twin folk duo, Ghost Bees. They make really delightful music and I definitely think you should take a listen. Here is their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ghostbees

Leonard Cohen

Based on a review of his 'Live in London' CD which mentioned that Cohen has the ability to make a giant ampitheatre feel like an intimate experience. Image did get tweaked a bit before print.

The Wilderness of Manitoba

So I made a poster for the Wilderness of Manitoba's new CD which is coming out at the end of August! Exciting! Buy a CD and you get one!

They are opening for the Rural Alberta Advantage's CD release on July 30th at the Horseshoe and all you Toronto folk should come and see them make music, because they are wonderful!

Raphael

This is a picture of a friend's character. Her name is Raphael, which by the way is the coolest name for a female character. You can see a ref of the character HERE.
